Dear Mr. Yamada:

On behalf of the World Council of Disabled People's International, we wish to thank you for the exceptional job you did for DPI in planning and organizing activities for our DPI 6th World Assembly held in Sapporo, Japan October 15-18, 2002.

You and your team contributed on many levels to the success of the assembly, and generated international recognition for the Japan National Assembly of Disabled Peoples' International (DPI-JAPAN). The amount of work from your team clearly reflects your collective dedication and commitment to the global disabilities movement.

We were equally touched by the love and effort from the thousands of volunteers who generously gave their time and support so participants will have comfortable stay for the World Assembly. Many of the participants have written to say how much they appreciate the hospitality of the Japanese organizers and the productive time they have spent in your beautiful country. Just like them, I always look forward to being able to come to Japan for a visit.

Thank you for helping made the 6th World Assembly a success. DPI will continue to work towards gaining respect for the rights of people with disabilities worldwide. No doubt, we will count on your support for the success of this effort.

With sincere appreciation,
Venus M. Ilagan
Chairperson

Many thanks for the kind generosity you showed during my recent visit to Sapporo. It was areal pleasure meeting you and your wife, and getting to spend time with both of you at the 6th World Assembly of DPI.

Congratulation on having hosted an exceptional event. I found my brief time at the Assembly enormously inspring, and am honoured to have a played a small role. My speech is enclosed for your reference.

If you are ever in Ottawa, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you very much for the great assistance which made me feel at home when I attended and participated in DPI Sapporo.

DPI has been a great inspiration and eye openner to me, I will take good
memories back home and I pray one time I will come again.

Japan is a good country with good people, food and climate although
expensive.

It was great and my first time to see a community which respect, integrate,
honour and value PWD,  I will take the same message, practise and advocate
at home

With prayers and best wishes may our dear God bless, comfort, strenghten and
reward your good work toward Persons with disabilities (PWD).

Dear Ryo and the whole team,
I have had so many people saying how wonderfully the Assembly was run and
what a great job that you did, that I felt it was important to let you know.
I am sure you are all absolutely exhausted, but you must take energy from
knowing that you did a magnificent job and gave DPI the opportunity to
really discuss issues, to network and to show that DPI is the voice of
disability rights.

Very many congratulations to you all.
With warmest regards,

Dear K
I hope after long days of hectic activities you must have found some time
for yourself. Hope you take a vacation and relax. It was a major marathon
indeed. I must congratulate you personally, all organisers and volunteers
for excellence and perfection in arrangement and execution of all
activities.

I had left Bhubaneswar on the 2nd and returned only yesterday, with a one
day stop over on 7th to pick up fresh clothes from home. First it was
Bangalore to sensitise judicial officers and judges of TN and Karnataka on
disability issues. My presentation was part of a 4 day workshop by Sakshi,
New Delhi, which works on violence against women. Next it was Delhi and then
Sapporro.

Watching composite culture set amidst Japanese hi-fi technology was an
experience in itself.
Congratulations again.
Best Wishes
